DocuPivot, the PDF tools site at docupivot.com, is a brand of ToolsPivot. We respect the work of authors, publishers and other rights holders, and we expect people who use our tools to do the same. This page explains how to report a copyright problem, how someone whose material was removed can respond, and how we treat repeat infringers.
What DocuPivot does and does not hold
DocuPivot processes documents; it does not publish them. There is no public gallery, no shared folder and no link that lets one visitor open another visitor's file.
- Files used with our browser tools are processed on the visitor's own device and never reach us.
- Files sent to our server tools are returned only to the person who uploaded them and are deleted automatically within 30 minutes.
So a copyright complaint about DocuPivot will usually concern one of two things:
- Misuse of a tool. For example, someone using our tools to copy, convert or unlock your work without permission. We cannot recover files that have already been deleted, but we can restrict a tool or block the person responsible.
- Material we publish ourselves. Our tool pages, guides, images and other site content. If we have used your work without permission, we will remove it or credit it, as you prefer.
Check before you write
Please make sure you own the rights in question or are authorised to act for the owner, and that the use you object to is not allowed by law, for example under fair use, fair dealing or a private-copying exception. A notice about material you do not own, or about a lawful use, can have legal consequences for you (see False claims).
Sending a copyright notice
Email info@docupivot.com with the subject line "Copyright Notice". A notice we can act on contains all of the following:
- Your physical or electronic signature, and whether you are the rights holder or are authorised to act for them.
- The work you say has been infringed. If one notice covers several works, a representative list is enough.
- The material you object to, described precisely enough for us to find it: a URL on our site or, where a tool is involved, which tool and how it was used.
- Your name, postal address, telephone number and email address.
- A statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised by the rights holder, its agent or the law.
- A statement that the information in the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the rights holder or are authorised to act on their behalf.
If anything is missing, we may not be able to act, or acting may take longer.
What happens next
- We aim to acknowledge a complete notice within 5 business days and to act promptly on a valid one.
- If the material is on our own site, we remove it or disable access to it.
- If a tool is being used to reach your material, we may restrict or disable that tool, or end the access of the user responsible.
- If we can identify the user involved, we tell them and send them a copy of your notice, including the contact details in it. Include only details you are happy for us to pass on.
- We keep a record of every notice so that repeat infringement can be spotted.
Counter-notice
If material of yours was removed and you believe that happened by mistake or because it was misidentified, email info@docupivot.com with the subject line "Counter-Notice" and include:
- Your signature, name, postal address, telephone number and email address.
- The material that was removed and where it appeared before removal.
- A statement under penalty of perjury that you believe in good faith the material was removed by mistake or misidentification.
- A statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of a court where you are located, or where our operator is located if you are outside that country, and that you will accept service of process from the person who sent the original notice.
We send your counter-notice to the person who complained. After a reasonable period we may restore the material, unless they tell us they have started court proceedings.
Repeat infringers
In appropriate circumstances, we end the access of people who infringe repeatedly:
- Each time we act on a valid notice about material a user submitted, we record a strike against that user.
- At three strikes, we end that user's access to DocuPivot. We may block access to particular tools before that point.
- A strike is removed if the notice is withdrawn, or if a counter-notice stands unchallenged.
- DocuPivot has no accounts, so we enforce this by blocking access.
False claims
Under US law (17 U.S.C. § 512(f)) and similar rules in other countries, anyone who knowingly and materially misrepresents that material is infringing, or that it was removed by mistake, may have to pay damages and legal costs. Please make sure your notice or counter-notice is accurate.
Trademarks and other rights
If you believe something on DocuPivot infringes a trademark or another right, email info@docupivot.com describing the right you hold, the material concerned and how to contact you.
Which law applies
DocuPivot is operated from India. Because our visitors and providers are international, we follow the notice-and-takedown process of the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act described above. Following it does not mean we accept that any particular country's law governs our service; the governing law is set out in our Terms of Service.
Send all copyright and takedown correspondence to info@docupivot.com.
